What you can and can’t ship from China
From China we ship almost any consumer product and most B2B categories. Below are the main groups with examples. Some categories (flagged with an icon) require formal clearance with certification — we’ll help with that too. Don’t see your item? Ask your manager.

Categories flagged “full official clearance” for lawful sale (especially on marketplaces) require a contract, a customs declaration, certification (EAC in the EAEU / Asl Belgisi in Uzbekistan) and VAT. We handle this for businesses. It is available for all delivery countries; it is not included in the shipping rate and is calculated separately.
What’s prohibited and what’s subject to approval
Check the list before ordering. Some goods cannot be shipped at all; others only by prior approval. If in doubt, ask your manager before paying.
Strictly prohibited (any country, any channel)
- Weapons, ammunition, their parts and components (incl. air guns, bladed weapons, stun devices — requires confirmation for specifics)
- Narcotic and psychotropic substances and precursors
- Explosive and flammable materials, pyrotechnics (firecrackers, fireworks, flares)
- Poisons and highly toxic substances
- Radioactive materials and radiation sources
- Pornographic materials
- Counterfeit goods and brand fakes on the formal channel — not cleared (risk of seizure for trademark infringement)
- Cultural valuables, antiques (export restricted under PRC law)
- Cash / currency above the cross-border movement limit (requires confirmation — limits vary by destination)
- Anything else prohibited by the law of the destination country or the PRC
Restricted (by prior approval)
Most consumer goods ship with no restrictions on any route (air, road, rail, sea): clothing and footwear, accessories, home goods, tableware, textiles, furniture, stationery, electronics without large batteries. The restrictions below apply only to dangerous and regulated cargo — borderline items we ship by prior approval with your manager.
Regulated groups (permits / certification required)
- Medicines and dietary supplements — regulated import; for trade, registration / certification (requires confirmation)
- Food, perishables — sanitary control; we don’t ship perishables on most cargo routes (requires confirmation by group)
- Live plants, seeds, saplings — phytosanitary control and permits
- Live animals, feed, veterinary products — veterinary control
- Cosmetics and household chemicals — certification for lawful trade; some formulations — air-freight restrictions
- Home appliances, electronics, baby goods — shippable, but trade requires certification (EAC / national) — not a ban, but a condition of the formal channel
Air-freight restrictions (dangerous / regulated cargo — IATA rules, by approval)
- Lithium batteries, accumulators, power banks, devices with built-in lithium
- Liquids, gels, aerosols
- Powders and loose goods
- Magnets (magnetized materials)
- Flammable substances (solvents, paints and coatings, spray cans)
For such cargo, alternative routes (road / rail / sea) are often available — your manager will advise.
Rail restrictions (SMGS / RID rules, by approval)
- Dangerous goods of classes 1–9 (explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids, oxidizers, toxic, corrosive) — by prior approval only, with a safety data sheet (MSDS) and correct classification; as a rule, we don’t accept them into consolidated (groupage) rail cargo
- Lithium batteries and devices with built-in lithium — easier by rail than by air, but a single such item shifts the whole consolidated container into the “dangerous” regime (higher cost + paperwork)
- Perishables and temperature-controlled cargo — a reefer container is required; we don’t accept them into standard consolidated rail cargo
- Oversized and heavy-weight cargo (machinery, large assemblies) — shipped as a separate consignment priced by dimensions, not as groupage
- Magnetized materials and loose / bulk goods — less restricted by rail than by air (by prior approval)
Ordinary goods ship by rail as standard. What can’t go by air (lithium, flammable liquids, aerosols, magnets) often clears by rail or road. Dangerous and regulated cargo — by prior approval with your manager.
Sea restrictions (IMDG rules, by approval)
- Dangerous goods under IMDG (classes 1–9) — by prior approval, with a dangerous-goods declaration and a safety data sheet (MSDS); not all classes are accepted into a consolidated (LCL) container
- Explosives (class 1), infectious substances (6.2), radioactive materials (class 7) — virtually never accepted into consolidated sea cargo
- Lithium (class 9), flammable liquids (class 3), aerosols and gases (class 2), oxidizers (5), corrosives (8) — more often feasible as a full container (FCL) than as groupage
- Perishables and temperature-controlled cargo — reefer container only; given the long transit (35–50 days) the risk of spoilage is high
- A single dangerous item inside a consolidated container shifts the entire container into the dangerous-goods regime — higher cost and stowage requirements
Sea is the cheapest channel for large, non-time-critical shipments (long transit). Ordinary goods ship as standard; dangerous and regulated cargo — by prior approval with your manager.
Branded / genuine goods: importing the original is possible, but the formal channel requires documents (often the rights holder’s authorization / an official channel) — depends on the destination. (Requires confirmation.)
Replicas (brand copies)
On the official (formal) channel with a customs declaration, replicas are not cleared — high risk of seizure for trademark infringement. On cargo, feasibility depends on the route, method and customs risks — the policy for a specific item is confirmed by your manager. (Requires confirmation — unified company policy; recommendation: on the formal channel — decline.)
Country-specific features and restrictions
- Russia (EAEU): the broadest list of mandatory Chestny Znak labeling (footwear, clothing, perfume, tires, dietary supplements, cosmetics, animal feed; the list expands every year). To sell, especially on WB / Ozon, you need a labeling code — that’s the formal channel.
- Belarus (EAEU): labeling is close to Russia’s, but the list and deadlines are approved separately. Customs may treat uniform batches as commercial — then formal import is required.
- Kazakhstan (EAEU): its own labeling system (footwear — from 1 Nov 2025, light industry — from 1 Dec 2026; the code is applied before customs clearance). For Kaspi and retail — the formal channel.
- Kyrgyzstan (EAEU): the narrowest labeling list (so far mainly tobacco / alcohol, with footwear being phased in). If goods travel onward to Russia / Kazakhstan, those countries’ labeling rules apply.
- Uzbekistan (NOT EAEU): its own customs (State Customs Committee, HS code), Asl Belgisi labeling (medicines, home appliances, beverages, tobacco; from 1 Jan 2026 — batteries), thresholds in dollars. Separately: drones and laser emitters may not be imported; jewelry, medicines and two-way radios — only with a permit from the relevant authority.
- Lists of prohibited / restricted goods, labeling and document requirements differ by destination country and change from time to time — confirm specifics with your manager / broker. (Requires confirmation for each country at the time of import.)
